2019 General Assembly of Europa Uomo Europe

Europa Uomo Europe General Assembly 2019 Birmingham

PRESS RELEASE
EUROPA UOMO CYPRUS LEADERSHIP IN EUROPEAN FIGHT AGAINST PROSTATE CANCER IS RECOGNIZED

Cyprus, in 2020, will host the General Assembly of Europa Uomo Europe, in which twenty-eight countries participate. This decision was taken at the General Assembly held on June 14 in Birmingham, England, at which Europa Uomo Cyprus was represented by Giannis Vanezos and Stavros Voniatis. This decision was a result of the good work done in Cyprus, which both the current president and the previous one had the opportunity to experience in person, during the “loose tie” event that took place last February. A special report was made before the General Assembly by the President of Europa Uomo, for the presence of the Minister of Health and Metropolitan Tamassos at the press conference, which in their countries, as he mentioned, is considered unthinkable!
The most important issues that occupied the General Assembly were:

Strengthening EuropaUomo’s vision and voice for the European Parliament, the European Medical Association and its participation in all major events covering Prostate Cancer, such as ESMO 19 (Oncology), EAU 19 (Urology) and European Meeting on Prostate Cancer
Announcement of launch in June, of the Quality-of-Life project, which covers the real life situation of patients as prostate cancer patients – Cyprus will participate with 5-10 patients
New members of Europa Uomo now represented in 28 countries. The new countries admitted during the GA were Armenia, Iceland, Latvia, Bulgaria

An analysis of the new approach to prostate cancer detection was performed, as well as psychological education for patients and families of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer.
